If I manage to live to be 100 years old, I’m sure I will still love certain things, including, but not limited to, the gospel, Dante, opera, Italy, airplanes, sunsets, and pretty women. In the domain of Flickrdom, this photo has the distinction, as far as I know, of being the first one ever dedicated to me personally, and posted primarily for my benefit. It was taken by a fellow named Juan Guzman, who lives in the Dominican Republic. He posted a black-and-white version of this picture, which promptly showed up in Interestingness, which of course I check every day now. I thought of “faving” it right then and there, but decided I would prefer to have it in color if that were possible. So I wrote to Juan and asked him, and soon he informed me that yes, it was, and that I could find it in his photostream. He indicated he was putting it there at my request.This was what I found when I looked a little further, and of course I loved it. This young lady’s smile could light up a black hole, and I consider this photo a credit to her, as well as to Juan himself. On days when I am feeling down — and I have many of those — this image could do a lot to cheer me up.
